January

Cultural Corridor Free Film Series at Charlevoix Cinema III.

Hook  (2 hrs. 22 min.)
Tuesday, January 20 at 6:00 p.m.

The Charlevoix Historical Society and Charlevoix Cinema III invite you to a free showing of Hook. In this adaptation of Peter Pan, Capt. Hook (Dustin Hoffman) abducts the children of middle-aged lawyer Peter Banning (Robin Williams). Peter returns to Neverland to rescue his children and begins to remember a foggy past in which he abandoned Neverland for family life.

Concessions are available for purchase during this free showing.

Ralph Hamilton Circle Reception for Ralph Hamilton Circle Members of the Historical Society

We will honor Ralph Hamilton Circle members and also celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Heritage Gardens with the Charlevoix Area Garden Club.

Wednesday, July 8 @ 6 pm in East Park

Community-wide reading of the Declaration of Independence, as part of the America250Mi statewide simultaneous event.  The public is welcome to attend. America250MI is Michigan’s statewide initiative coordinating programs, partnerships, and storytelling for the United States Semiquincentennial.  The Charlevoix Historical Society is participating in this program along with other organizations in the area.

Friday, July 24 @ 7 pm  Venetian Fireworks at Depot Beach

Historical Society members and their guests are invited for hot dogs and lemonade, and to stay and enjoy the fireworks from Depot Beach.  Please bring a dish to share and your own tableware.

All events are open to the public except the Venetian Potluck. Programs at the Depot are offered at no charge for members and $5.00 for non-members unless otherwise noted.

The Charlevoix Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose objective is to bring together people who are interested in the history and heritage of the Charlevoix area and in the protection and preservation of places and objects of historical value. The Society sponsors many events throughout the year to which the public is invited.
