The 171-page book is fully illustrated with almost 400 photos. Many are striking color shots by photographer Mike Barton. The biography also includes many vintage photos and Charlevoix area scenes (some taken by Earl himself), from the deep archived collection of the Charlevoix Historical Society. The text is written by Society curator and historian David L. Miles. Boulders is a Library of Michigan 2021 Notable Book and a Historical Society of Michigan State History Award recipient in the Books: Private Printing category. The book has sold over 1175 copies and is now in its third edition!
